Biography:

Richard Gonzales is an associate professor in residence in the Department of Educational Leadership at the University of Connecticut’s Neag School of Education. He currently serves as director of educational leadership preparation programs and leads the UConn University Principal Preparation Initiative, a $5.45 million project funded by the Wallace Foundation, which aims to improve principal pre-service training.

Dr. Gonzales received his M.Ed. and Ph.D. in educational administration from The University of Texas at Austin.  Before entering higher education, he worked as an elementary bilingual teacher, an elementary principal, and a district-level administrator.  His research interests include leadership development, principal preparation, equity issues in education, urban education, and school improvement.
