Biography:
Sydnee joined the Neag School of Education as an academic advisor in 2023. Most recently, she was an academic advisor with UConn’s Academic Center for Exploratory Students, where she consistently received overwhelmingly positive feedback from students. Sydnee was praised for her welcoming, supportive, and knowledgeable approach, with students noting her ability to create a judgment-free environment and provide clear, actionable academic guidance. Her exceptional ratings reflect her dedication to student success and her expertise in educational policies and programs.
Prior to that, Sydnee held a similar position for the Explore Central Office at Central Connecticut State University. She earned an MS in counselor education and a BA in sociology from Central Connecticut State University.
In addition to her advising work, Sydnee is exploring research on the importance of students of color having a trusted adult on campus and how these relationships impact their academic performance and connection to campus life. She is passionate about how holistic support can influence students’ success, both academically and socially. With a strong commitment to fostering inclusive and supportive student environments, Sydnee continues to bring her student-centered philosophy and leadership to her current role at UConn.
