Austina Lee

Dr. Austina Lee is an Assistant Clinical Professor and PDC in the IB/M program. A collaborative musician, educator, and scholar, she brings decades of experience performing and teaching across styles and content areas. Her K–12 professional career spans roles as a high school math teacher, Assistant Director of Bands, Director of Choirs, Assistant Musical Theatre Director, Activities Director, and elementary MTSS Coordinator. In addition to Colorado teaching and Principal Licenses, Dr. Lee holds a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, a Master’s degree in Band Conducting, and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in music education. 

Dr. Lee’s research interests include cultural responsiveness, authentic connection, punk pedagogies, pedagogy of love, and improvisation in music, on which topics she has presented at conferences in the US, England, Finland, Norway, Portugal, and Scotland. Dr. Lee has published her research in peer-reviewed journals and books in the fields of education and music education. Dr. Lee is passionate about cultivating caring relationships with and among students and community members to harness their unique strengths and create robust educational experiences and connections; a focus celebrated in her forthcoming (2026) monograph, Vibrant Connections.
