Lauren Midgette
Assistant Clinical Professor
Title: Assistant Clinical Professor
Lauren is a proud Neag School of Education alumnus and currently serves students and partner districts as a clinical instructor in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction. Her research interests include better supporting pre-service educators, developing meaningful ongoing professional development for alumni, creating cross-cultural experiences for pre-service educators, and exploring the role of literature in developing inclusive worldviews, both in elementary and secondary settings.
Prior to her work at UConn, Lauren taught secondary English at Bulkeley High School in Hartford, CT, where she had the opportunity to work with incredible young people and inspiring educators. She was awarded two fellowships at Stanford University which motivated her to pursue her Ph.D. at Teachers College, Columbia University. She continued working with teachers during her time there as a Lead Professional Development Coach for The Center for Professional Education of Teachers at Teachers College.
When Lauren is not in schools working with Neag students, you can find her reading with her daughter, taking her pup for walks, and enjoying her partner’s spectacular cooking.
