Mark R. Shibles of Wilton, Maine, a former dean and professor emeritus of the Neag School of Education, was a highly respected scholar and leader in educational leadership and policy. With his passing on Aug. 24, 2021, at 83, the Neag School honors Shibles’ impact and his legacy.

The University of Connecticut has named Morgaen L. Donaldson, a renowned scholar of educational leadership and policy, as the next Philip E. Austin Endowed Chair.

Morgaen Donaldson, director of the Center for Education Policy Analysis at the University of Connecticut, said the state’s many districts have a lot to do with the low percentage of teachers. “We have quite a lot of districts, especially for our size. These districts have to provide all the services for the students.”

After leading UConn’s Strategic Planning Efforts, Richard L. Schwab has returned to the Neag School of Education as dean to lead the implementation of the school’s Academic Plan with two new associate deans, Casey Cobb and Sandra Chafouleas.
