The Neag School of Education at the University of Connecticut has been reaccredited by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE). The Neag School received national recognition in October for its commitment to producing quality educators for the nation’s children by continuously improving its diverse clinical and field experiences for students in its educator preparation programs

H. Kenny Nienhusser, an assistant professor of educational leadership at the University of Hartford, met with students in the Neag School’s higher education and student affairs program last month to discuss the need for high school and college faculty and administration to reshape their behavior in order to help make college a reality for undocumented students.

Before an audience of more than 125 friends, colleagues, Neag School graduates, students, and faculty, two high-profile Neag School alumni took to the stage this Tuesday at UConn’s von der Mehden Hall in Storrs to share their insights on leadership, as well as their own preparation program experience at UConn, as part of the School’s inaugural educational leadership alumni forum.

James Kaufman, professor of educational psychology, met with CNN’s Dr. Sanjay Gupta this summer for a forthcoming show about creativity.

The Neag School of Education recently welcomed new faculty members through its continued effort to elevate the academic and research focus and help transform education.

Next year, UConn’s Neag School of Education and School of Law will partner for the first time to address this need head-on, launching a new graduate program designed for working professionals interested in obtaining a law degree as well as certification as an educational administrator. The program is believed to be the first of its kind in the nation.

The Neag School of Education recognized graduates from the Class of 2015 during two ceremonies held the weekend of May 9 and 10, 2015.

U.S. News & World Report released its annual national rankings of graduate schools of education on March 10, with the Neag School of Education ranking No. 31 in the nation, up two slots this year from No. 33.

UConn’s Neag School of Education is launching an online graduate certificate in School Law, beginning in the spring of 2015. The 12-credit program is designed to help educators, administrators, policy makers and parents gain the expertise needed to cut through confusing “legalese” and better understand the legal dimensions of K-12 education.
