Members of the Neag School of Education Alumni Society, as well as faculty, staff, and administrators of the Neag School of Education gathered this past Saturday on the UConn Storrs campus with the 2016 Alumni Awards honorees and their guests for the 18th Annual Alumni Awards Celebration. Seven outstanding Neag School graduates were recognized at the event.
Through UConn’s Neag School of Education, individuals who hold a bachelor’s degree and who are interested in teaching can earn in one year a master’s degree and teaching certification through our accelerated, full-time Teacher Certification Program for College Graduates (TCPCG). Thanks to Neag Alumni Scholarship support, two new students join the program this summer.

Alyssa Bogdanowicz received her bachelor’s degree in Special Education with a concentration in English last year. Gabrielle Pallotto earned her bachelor’s degree in Early Education and is currently studying abroad in London through the Neag IB/M program. Current Neag Alumni Society Scholarship recipients recently reflected on the impact of the scholarship.

It’s been four years since Wally Lamb published a new book, his short, light-hearted novel, Wishin’ and Hopin’. Now at last, he gives us a rich new novel, We Are Water. Lamb launched We Are Water (Harper Collins) on Oct. 21 at the new UConn Co-op Bookstore at Storrs Center, which opened – before even the bookshelves are installed – on one night only for this special occasion.

A memorial service for former Student Affairs Vice President and Neag Alumni Award winner H. Fred Simons (Ph.D. ‘72) celebrated the life, commitment and legacy of a man committed to advancing multicultural education and UConn’s racial and ethnic diversity.
