Award-winning composer William D. Pardus, ’58, ’59, ’60, has been recognized with the Director’s Prize in the International Composers’ Competition, sponsored by the Longfellow Chorus of Portland, Maine for his composition – FIVE SONGS of the SEA (for soprano voice and piano) which was part of a project of setting ten Longfellow poems to music, with varied types of accompaniments. The event sounded the latest high note of this Neag School of Education alum’s long and varied career.

It’s been four years since Wally Lamb published a new book, his short, light-hearted novel, Wishin’ and Hopin’. Now at last, he gives us a rich new novel, We Are Water. Lamb launched We Are Water (Harper Collins) on Oct. 21 at the new UConn Co-op Bookstore at Storrs Center, which opened – before even the bookshelves are installed – on one night only for this special occasion.

University of Southern California Marshall School of Business Professor Kathleen Kelley Reardon, a 1971 Neag alumna and former UConn associate professor, was awarded the UConn Alumni Association Humanitarian Award at the UConn Alumni Awards in October. A memorial service for former Student Affairs Vice President and Neag Alumni Award winner H. Fred Simons (Ph.D. ‘72) celebrated the life, commitment and legacy of a man committed to advancing multicultural education and UConn’s racial and ethnic diversity.

The UConn Alumni Association invites you to reconnect with UConn during Homecoming 2013. All alumni, families, and friends are welcome during this weeklong celebration. The festivities include such traditions as the Homecoming Parade and the Annual Student Lip Sync contest. The excitement and momentum build toward the game against University of South Florida and the HuskyTown Tailgate and BBQ on Saturday, Oct. 12.
