The 5l-year-old CEO of sister com­panies Sound Manufacturing and Mon­ster Power Equipment in Old Saybrook, Kellie-Marie Vallieres, took over the family business from her father in 2006. She never planned to run the company, but when earning her Ph.D. in adult experiential learning at UConn she did a class project on Sound Manufacturing, which makes precision sheet metals for a variety of industries – landscaping, telecommunications, industrial, automotive, etc.


Dana Tulotta Appointed GHS Assistant Headmaster

Greenwich Public Schools Superintendent Dr. Toni Jones has appointed Dana Tulotta as assistant headmaster at Greenwich High School, effective July 1, 2020. Most recently, Tulotta held the role of Folsom House administrator at Greenwich High School in Greenwich, Conn.



Windsor Schools Name Two New Elementary School Principals

His work from Prek through grade 12 will bring new ideas and perspectives to Poquonock School. Jay impressed us all with his commitment to student learning and equity.”





LEARN Names New Principals

Tara Amatrudo has been hired as the new principal at Marine Science Magnet High School in Groton. Amatrudo earned her undergraduate and master’s degrees from Southern Connecticut State University and her Sixth Year Professional diploma at the University of Connecticut.

Alumni, Students Assist in UConn’s Transition to Remote Learning

The University had originally planned to conduct remote learning for two weeks following spring break, but growing health concerns led to a fully online transition for the Spring 2020 semester. UConn faculty members, some of whom had never administered remote courses before, had to transition their coursework quickly to align with the new remote teaching style. Neag School alumna Karen Skudlarek ’88 (BUS), ’16 MA and her colleagues at CETL have been instrumental in the process.
